Evelyn Anna Moore
October 29, 1945 - August 2, 2018
Evelyn Anna (Pradia, Phillips) Moore October 29, 1945 – August 2, 2018 Evelyn was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2018. Her prognosis was that the disease was treatable but not curable. The decision was made to undergo chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments to provide the best chance for life. Four treatments and three months later, she lost her battle. She passed in the company of her loving family, transitioning from painful suffering to peace. Evelyn was born in Houston, Texas and moved to California at the age of five. She grew up in Oakland where she established lasting friendships that endure to this day. At the age of eighteen, she enlisted in the Air Force to serve her country. She married, travelled and ultimately was honorably discharged due to pregnancy. Her private sector career spanned all of her working years including many positions, departments and job descriptions. Even after retiring, Evelyn served as a volunteer to assist seniors in making sense of retirement choices and options. Evelyn was forever in the service of helping people. A veteran serving her country, a nationally recognized medical health benefits coordinator, a legendary facilitator who inspired those needing employment to find it, a job placement specialist who knew the ‘fit’ for hard to place clients, a social worker who served the aging and disabled, an employment specialist serving clients for the Employment Development Department, a volunteer counseling those in need of interpreting Medicare, Social Security and related programs- she gave her all. Evelyn contributed and produced based on need, not the clock. Evelyn’s legacy will include varied and amazing talents that can best be appreciated by personal witness: cooking spectacular meals; cutting up the dance floor- but really understood as dancing in Evelyn’s world; knowing lyrics and singing songs that span many decades and genres; humbling hopeful ‘Scrabble’ competitors; assembling wardrobes from seemingly obscure sources; and caring so much for other people. Survivors of immediate family include: Christopher- husband; Tyson, Michael (Erich)- sons; Tiffany- daughter; Beth- daughter in law; Jason- stepson; Hunter, Wyatt- grandchildren.
