July 12, 1948 - January 11, 2021
John Boggs January 11, 2021, John passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side. He had won his race, he received his reward. The world was blessed on July 12, 1948 in Oskaloosa, Iowa when John Orville Boggs was born as the first born son to Orville and Margaret Boggs. In 15 short months, his brother and true friend joined the family. John and George shared a close relationship their entire life. The family moved to California when John was 5. There he attended schools graduating in 1966 from Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California. The family lived a short distance from the beach where John and George could always be found surfing or cruising Whittier, Bellflower, or Tweedy Boulevards. April 21, 1972 was the most memorable day of his life. He was always excited to tell of the day God changed his life and filled him with the Holy Ghost. His life, desires, and goals were forever changed. Anyone that knew John knew he loved and breathed God. His love for God was shown in every action and decision that he made. Loving to sing, the church quartet in which he sang was invited to sing at a singspiration in Ontario. There in 1973, he met the love of his life, Fay Brannon Boggs. They lived together almost inseparable for 47 years. God blessed them with two beautiful children, John Robert Boggs and Jennifer Rebecca Boggs Mitchell. In such a seeming short time frame, five gorgeous grandchildren filled his days. John always loved babies but oh low he loved Jack, Allison, Katelyn, Emma and Samuel John! Dedicating his life to the work of God, John loved Church and every aspect of it. If there was a job to be done, he was there filling that role. From maintenance worker to board member, he was always ready to serve. His true joy came from worshiping God by playing his trumpet, singing in the choir, or singing specials. He LOVED the House of God! John was a faithful employee who gave his best to The Gas Company for 30 years. He loved his job in the Meter & Regulations Department. Many family trips were taken visiting his newly built commercial meters that he installed all over Southern California. John loved the outdoors. Yearly vacations were spent camping, boating, water skiing with family and friends. In 2000, John found Vicky and enthusiastically brought her home. For the next 20 years, whenever there was an opportunity, he spent restoring his 1956 Ford Victoria. He loved every second working on it, driving it all over town, and going to car shows. He has temporarily left us but will be standing by the Eastern Gate waiting to greet us again!
