Margaret Ellen Mark
November 3, 1937 - October 10, 2019
MARGARET (PEGGY) MARK On Thursday, Oct. 10th, 2019 at about 4:30 a.m. Margaret (Peggy) Mark slipped peacefully away from her life in this world to her eternal life in the next. Peggy was born Nov. 3, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Otto and Laila Dedrick. She spent most of her childhood years growing up in San Pedro, CA. It was in High School she met her sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Mark and they were married for 54 years. Soon after, they moved to Torrance,CA. when Bob began his career with the LA Fire Dep't. and Peggy began hers as a wife and mother. There they raised three kids; Pam, Robert Jr. and Randy, within biking distance of the beach and with an endless supply of love and adventure, casting the mold for their futures. Once the nest was empty, Bob and Peggy flew the coop and landed in Fawnskin, in the mountains of Big Bear Lake, CA. There, they spent 27 glorious years in an old rustic cabin; cutting firewood, skiing, sledding and shoveling snow and sometimes melting it for water when the pipes froze. Peggy didn't hold many jobs outside the home, but she did work part time at Sears when they still had candy counters, at Torrance Memorial Hospital and her all around favorite, the Hallmark store in Big Bear. Everyone knows she never missed an occasion to send cards, which made it a perfect fit. Bob retired after 21 years on the Fire Dep't. so naturally they had to get out and see the world, well, at least the western portion of the United States. Besides back-packing, camping and boating throughout most of CA, they enjoyed many memorable trips; from a month in Baja by dune buggy all the way up to Banff, Canada in a motor-home. And every fantastic location you can think of in between. One of Peggy's lifelong dreams came true when she was able to journey to Norway with her mother, to visit the country of her parent's birth. After Bob's passing in July of 2009, Peggy filled the last 10 years staying busy and involved with her church, women's clubs, social activities, keeping fit, concerts, bus trips and a cruise to Cabo San Lucas. She will be greatly missed by her children, grand kids & great grand kids- natural & adopted, plus extended family and many friends, old and new, near and far. But we are able to rejoice knowing our Mom and Dad are at last reunited in Heaven; healthy, happy and whole and hiking together down those streets of gold! A Celebration of Peggy's life will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Rd. Apple Valley, CA. A private family ceremony will be held afterwards at Gold Mountain Park in Big Bear.
