May 8, 1923 - October 24, 2015
Hi Everyone, Family and Friends, I am home now. My heart longed to be with Him so God called me home on October 24, 2015. Praise God! My name is Virginia L. Gilliam. I was born in Blue Jay, West Virginia on May 8, 1923. My parents were Albert P. and Minnie C. Lilly. I was the 9th of 10 children, all deceased. Now I am reunited with them. I married Alfred K. Gilliam in 1939 and had two children, Erma White (Al) and Ken Gilliam (Christena). Out of those two are 9 grandchildren: Greg, Rinda, Larry, Kelly, Terese, Catherine, Emily, Tiffany and Jessica; 11 g-grandchildren and 10 g-g-grandchildren. Truly, my quiver is full. I would never want to forget my numerous nieces and nephews along with my friends and church families. All the above are precious to me. If I could name my life story or life message, it would be SINGING for JESUS. As a small child, I began singing with my sister Ruby on the front porch of the “old home place”. My passion for singing continued, resulting in me singing alto for the Gilliam Quartet for several years. My husband and I, along with the rest of the quartet, traveled around the southern states presenting the gospel in song. More recently, I sang in the choir at my church in Oceanside and as a part of the congregation at Horizon Church in Victorville. I have requested that my grandson, Pastor Larry White, officiate at my funeral to be held at Sunset Hills on Wednesday November 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM. I was blessed to be cared for by all the kind staff at Victor Valley Community Hospice. I am requesting that any donation be given to them in lieu of flowers. God Bless you all, Virginia
